Who We Are

Yonkers Partners in Education (YPIE) is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) local education fund (LEF) focused on building a district-wide culture that promotes academic achievement and results in an increased number of Yonkers Public School students who complete a post-secondary education.

Since its launch in 2007, YPIE has helped to systematically transform the way administrators, teachers and students in the district approach post-secondary planning. YPIE has become a recognized model for helping thousands of low-income high school students fulfill the dream of a higher education.

  • Among the 26,000 students who attend the Yonkers Public School District, nearly three-fourths of the students live at or below the poverty line.
  • 15% come from homes where English is not the spoken language.
  • The majority of students in the district will be the first in their families to pursue a college degree.

Mission Statement

In partnership with the public and private sectors, YPIE strives to ensure that all children who attend the Yonkers Public Schools have the tools, support and guidance needed to complete a post-secondary program.

Collaboration

YPIE works in close partnership with the Yonkers Public Schools to provide programs and services that promote a college-going culture. YPIE also enlists the leadership and support of the private sector to insure that the broader community embraces the achievement goals of the district.

Student Services

YPIE works across the district to deliver middle and high school-based programs designed to improve college and career readiness and increase access to two and four-year colleges and vocational programs.

Community Engagement

YPIE reaches out to parents and students in the community to provide information and guidance about college and career pathways and the financial aid available to make their dreams of college a reality.

Data-Driven Programs and Accountability

YPIE serves as a catalyst for improving district-wide data on post-secondary application, enrollment and completion. YPIE’s data-driven efforts directly support the delivery of services to students and enables consistent monitoring of progress district-wide.

With the Support of a diverse and visionary Board of Directors, a small and highly efficient Staff and generous SupportersYPIE is able to leverage its resources to provide access and opportunity for student and families in this large, urban district.

YPIE is a member of the Public Education Network (PEN). YPIE received the GANSO Award from LATYN and the HARCA (Hudson river Community Association) Award for work in support of public education.
