YPIE partners with Regeneron to launch YPIE Nashville, bringing its proven science research/college success model to students in the Metro Nashville Public Schools
Yonkers Partners in Education (YPIE), a nonprofit organization that prepares students for college success, announced today that it will launch YPIE Nashville, a new site in Nashville, Tennessee.
Since 2007, YPIE has prepared thousands of students for success in college and careers.
YPIE confronts the challenges of low-income, underfunded school districts by providing families with equitable access to the critical tools and services necessary for college success.
YPIE provides college readiness, access, and persistence services to more than 2,000 students each year in Yonkers, NY, and Jersey City, NJ. Building on its relationships with corporate partners and volunteers, YPIE empowers students to develop their professional skills, secure internships, and access their first jobs after graduation.
As part of the Together for CHANGE initiative led by Regeneron, Meharry Medical College, and other pharmaceutical companies, YPIE is bringing its proven science research/college success model to high school students in the Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), preparing the next generation of independent researchers, scientists, and medical professionals.
YPIE Regeneron Science Research is a rigorous program through which high school students conduct original, in-depth science research and present at local and national science competitions. Students participating in this program successfully enroll in and graduate from four-year colleges prepared to pursue careers in STEM, environmental science, healthcare, and other competitive fields.
YPIE is thrilled to welcome Dr. Jennifer Gentry as the founding YPIE Nashville Site Director. Jennifer has dedicated her career to inspiring young minds through science. She brings a wealth of knowledge in educating students to think critically and develop skills that will empower them to pursue meaningful careers. Jennifer has her Ph.D in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University and Post-doctoral Fellowships from Harvard Medical School and Vanderbilt University.
YPIE Nashville will begin recruiting its inaugural class of 9th-grade students during spring 2025. Jennifer will identify space to construct a YPIE Nashville science lab and continue to grow YPIE’s relationship with the Metro Nashville Public Schools, Regeneron, and other community partners.
With the generous support of Regeneron, YPIE looks forward to developing its presence in Nashville and ensuring YPIE Nashville students are on the path to thriving in college and future careers.
