YPIE Students Apply Early to College

It’s been an action-packed fall for YPIE Seniors! 

Many YPIE scholars have just “hit submit” on their college applications after months of hard work. The college process can be overwhelming, but our seniors have risen to the challenge. Throughout the summer and fall, they’ve worked closely with college advisors, volunteer  essay coaches to tackle every step of the application process with confidence.

We’re also thrilled to share that two YPIE scholars have been selected as finalists for QuestBridge, a highly competitive program that provides full scholarships to attend top-tier colleges. We are proud of their hard work and this remarkable achievement. 

This fall, YPIE hosted a variety of college access events to guide students through the application process, including:

• College Visits, with bus trips to Muhlenberg College, Stony Brook University, and SUNY New Paltz, giving students the chance to explore campuses and get a feel for different college environments.

• College Connector, an in-person event at the YPIE College Zone where students had the opportunity to meet with representatives from Vassar College, Boston University, Sarah Lawrence College, Binghamton University, and Muhlenberg College. Students learned about academics, extracurriculars, and campus life, helping them gain a deeper understanding of what each college offers.

• Access Saturday, a hands-on event where students worked closely with college advisors at the College Zone. This session provided valuable support on everything from perfecting essays and creating FAFSA IDs to hitting "submit" on their college applications.
